  Great Places for Wedding Photos
ADVICE FROM OUR PROFESSIONAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS

Remember to enjoy every minute of your day - don't get distracted by the little things that might go wrong.
Surround yourself with people that will make you laugh - you will feel and appear relaxed in your photos.
The best light conditions is late afternoon (16h00 onwards) so schedule your photo shoot accordingly if you want great photos.

PATRICK PHOTOGRAPHY

As little girls, we begin to dream of how our wedding day will be. We see our dresses, our tiaras and veils, our flowers, our handsome prince. We dream of being the Cinderella.
Your Wedding Day is your ‘little girl dream’ becoming a reality.
As your photographer/videographer, it is our job to capture your little girl dream. It is important to us that you feel relaxed and confident with us, that you trust us to be as unobtrusive as possible and that you believe that we will capture your precious memories.
Remember this is your day, and that is what is of utmost importance to us.

NATURAL FLAIR

Most importantly is that you need to feel at ease with your photographer-remember this is your day and a stressful bride who is not at ease shows on photos. Enjoy the day- be yourself and let the love shine and show.

ELSKE PHOTOGRAPHY

With regards to make-up avoid glittery eye shadow and avoid wearing too much body glitter, as it doesn’t show up well on the photographs. The glitter also generally ends up all over your new husbands suit and looks like white specs on the photos.

K-PICS

- Preferably meet with your photographer before you decide
- Choose a photographer that you feel comfortable with
- Make sure that you see a complete wedding and not just a few lucky shots
- Quality is more important than quantity

PHOTOGRAPHERS ANONYMOUS

Connect with and like your photographers. They are going to be around you throughout your wedding day. Look at lots of examples of their work. Get comfortable that they are, good photographers and knowledgeable regarding album design and layout.

PHOTOS 4 AFRICA

View at least one full wedding of the photographers (it’s easy to put together a portfolio of 7 or 8 images of beautiful brides with very little experience.) When making price comparisons be sure to take note of whether the cd with high res (good enough for printing) is included or not. This can sometimes add R1000 or more onto the costs and is not a surprise you want to get after the day.

PIPPA MOORE PHOTOGRAPHY

Allow plenty of time for photographs.

UNFORGETTABLE PHOTOS

You will be spending a great deal of your day with your photographer, be comfortable with the person you choose.

ZWE PHOTOGRAPHY

Your choice of photographer is a high priority, and perhaps the most important of all your wedding suppliers. When the food and wine has gone and the music is over, a fabulous album of photographs will allow you to relive your wedding day forever.

KAL DANNER

Cost is a consideration but should not be at the expense of quality. Quality is paramount - in capturing each important moment and in producing the final prints.

SAYSHA BAKER PHOTOGRAPHY

  • Thinking about having an indoor wedding? Be sure to ask your coordinator or a staff member about the availability of spot-lighting your stage. Candle light alone is beautiful, but can make dark pictures. A good photographer will utilise the spot light to enhance the subjects only – and can still maintain the ambience the candle lights provide.
  • Once you book the photographer, give them as much information as possible. Ask the vicar/minister/rabbi if the photographer can take photos during the service, and if not then let them know.
  • Help the photographer by informing them of special events, especially if the events were not on the itinerary or schedule you gave to the photographer at your pre-wedding consultation. Throwing a surprise or two into the mix at your wedding or reception helps build an atmosphere of romance and excitement, but it can stress your photographer out a lot if they do not have any warning.
  • Brides should keep their photography in mind when applying makeup. Match your foundation to your neck colour and stay away from foundations that have too much pink or orange coloring. Shiny makeup reflects in photographs.
  • Help the photographer by assigning a helper during the formal portraits if possible. This family photographer's assistant should know your family (and the groom's) so that they can help quickly and efficiently. This person is taking some of the stress off of both you and your professional and is a great job for a family member who may be feeling left out.

TIMELESS PHOTOGRAPHY

Relax and be yourself. Don’t focus on looking perfect during the photography session, ‘naturally-you’ is the most beautiful you can be. Be free and have fun.

ZELNA RENNIE PHOTOGRAPHY

Choose a photographer, that you feel comfortable working with and you know who's work will compliment your wedding day.

ANDRE LOUW PHOTOGRAPHY

Page through bridal magazines and show you photographer what kind of photos and poses you like, that gives her a good idea of your taste and dislikes. A good make-up artist is essential to create the perfect canvas for stunning photos, this will also ensure that you don’t have a shiny face at the end of the photo shoot!

FLASHBACK PHOTOGRAPHY & DESIGN

The most important advice we can give to brides is to choose a photographer that you get along with very well, and not because they have the lowest (or highest) prices. It's very important that you like and get along with your photographer, because it will definitely reflect in the photos if you don't. It is very important to meet with a few photographers, and based on the meeting you can choose. A great way of getting to know your favorite photographer, is to book an engagement or bridal session with them. This way you and the photographer get to know each others styles and preferences in a low pressure environment. And when your big day comes, you know what to expect of your photographer, and you can just relax and enjoy your wedding.

Choose a photographer who you will be able to relate to.

MY PHOTOGRAPHER

Give me time on the wedding day. Get a good make-up artist, be relaxed and leave the rest to me.

RYAN GRAHAM PHOTOGRAPHY

Your photography should not be about the packages - meet with your photographer and choose the one you feel most comfortable with and can give you what you want from your wedding day. You only have one chance.
